Is lucas 85-140 safe to used in farmall super a transmission and drive axle. Some people claim gl 5 gear oil is yellow metal safe other claim it is not.
 
Many people on this forum use 85-140 on the letter series. Nothing wrong with it. I have used it for years.
 
There are carefully formulated GL5 lubricants that are advertised as safe for brass/bronze components. Not all are rated as compatible. Do the homework, because GL5 is better. Jim
