Super m machine shop work

Super m has significant wear on the peddle shaft that goes through transmission body of tractor. Does anyone sell bushings for the clutch and right brake pedal? Is it better to have the rod built up and machined or try to purchase a new rod?

Thanks.

You can buy a new shaft, but you will still need a machine shop to bore out the peddles and install new bushings.

Some of those aftermarket shafts are built wrong and will not work. If it were mine, I would just take the shaft and the peddles to a good machine shop and ask them to fix it.

the connecting rod bushings from the 282 engine in 560's, 660's is supposed to be the bushing to use. then just ream the pedal hole to fit. i have never got around to tying it though. but the machinist would do his measuring and find bushings himself. the whole rod can be made on a lath also, as a new one might be obselete. you just have to do price comparing.

New shaft is cheaper than a machine shop. Be wary of after market shafts as they will probably have key in wrong location. Hmm wonder how I know that! Take the new shaft and peddles into a machine shop and have them bush the peddles. Be sure to order 4 shaft seals as they are much thinner than originals.

you can get them on ebay around 50 bucks make sure you are getting a shaft for an M not a 400 or 450 (shafts the same except keyways are in a different location) did my 400 wow! like a new tractor

Ok. I've purchased a new shaft and will have bushings put in the pedal. I know od on shaft is 1.125". What should be the I.d. Of the bushing?

1.125 shaft should have .001 to .002" clearance. So it needs to be straight reamed to 1.126" to 1.127". Make sure it has a drilled hole to a grease fitting so it can be lubed!! Jim
