I realize this has been chewed over and over, I was just wondering if someone might have a part number or year of old truck or car power steering unit to adapt for to a Famall M. I realize I need a bracket and torque generator plus some additional goodies. I have an old power steering unit in the barn but I have no idea what it came off, how much pressure it will create and see no numbers stamped. I have heard an Asian unit is smaller and may be better suited, but that is all I know about that tip. Live hydraulics would be nice, but I believe I can cope with belly pump just fine, but after all these birthdays PS would be nice, thanks

Plenty of remote reservoir pumps in Hondas and Nissan vehicles. The reservoir needs to be higher than the pump to supply the fluid, but they work. Make sure it
is V belt drive! looking for one that suits your mounting plan may take 15 minutes. Mounting on the left works but might need a puley made for the crank.
Using two pulleys on the generator or alternator allows driving it on the right side above the oil fill cover. Jim

I don't know what pump my Char-Lyn unit uses but
you will be glad you have it. It makes it drive like a
number series tractor. I've heard say that a Chevy
pickup pump from the early 80's work. Can't attest.

GM pump is what I put on my Super M. Works flawless. Better that the char lyn I think. It sets under the hood and can not see it unless you look for it.

Would you happen to know the year of the pump and what GM vehicle it fit?

May I request pics of your set up please?? Sorry, had to ask. I will send email via PM, cannot figure out how to set up email access on the board. thanks a bunch

Could you post a pic please? I was curious how you set it all up, especially how you drive the pump.

thanks,
Al
