M lift-all evaluation/test

I'm looking at a M. I want to verify the lift-all works properly. The seller is some distance away and doesn't have an implement to hook to. Is there any way I can check the lift-all to see it works without an implement connected to it? It does not have the "oil derrick" valve for remote control, just the lever going directly to the lift all pump.

thanks,
Al

One thing comes to mind, start the engine, get it warmed up, make sure the oil level is correct somwhow, and just pull the lever until the engine slightly dogs down. As I remember, it will do so with the lever pulled and the pump in good working condition. May not tell you much, but it might tell you something. Otherwise, is there some sort of pressure gage you could connect? Now there, I cannot advise you.

Hook a pressure gauge to the right hand port(the one by the lever).1000lbs will suffice.500 to 600 lbs is about all you will get.200-300 means the pump is worn out.800 to 1000 is darn 'healthy'.
