Hello,
Just purchased a 706 yesterday at an auction. It does not have a TA and silver shift levers. Haven't seen either before. Also the serial number tag isn't where it should be. Can't tell if it was taken off or what. IS there some where else I might be able to find a serial number? Info about this tractor would be appreciated. Wondering what year it is also. Thanks everyone

Does the H-L-N-R lever shift in a straight line, or an h-pattern? If it shifts in an h-pattern, it has the "56 series style" shifter installed. The original straight line shifter was difficult to operate after it got some wear on it, and some were updated to the later style. The 56 series shifter is more tolerant of wear.

There's tons of information on 706's on the web. Start at tractordata dot com. Not really sure what "any info" you are looking for.

If the serial number tag is not there, you are out of luck. That is the ONLY place on the tractor where the serial number appears.

Thanks for the info. I figured it had the shift updated. The ones we had on the farm were always worn out. I have never seen a 706 without a TA. Thought that was interesting. Was hoping the serial number was also hidden in another place. Not the end of the world. It has a fast hitch that I will want to put arms in for a 3 point. If anyone might know a year being it doesn't have a TA let me know. Thanks!
