Farmall H radiator?

Replacing the radiator on a 42 H, it had a non pressurized rad. on it, the used one I got is a pressurized one, is anything other than the cap and bolt pattern for the shroud going to be different or need to be changed to use the pressurized rad?

The grill maight be a bit different at the rear of the radiator cap opening. You may need to cut a bit out of it to make room for the overflow tube.

The non-pressurized radiator attached the grill with those DZUS fasteners. The modern radiator uses common bolts. I'm pretty sure the bolt holes in the grill will work with either radiator.

Thanks for the answers, it is what I thought, just wanted to be sure, although my old non pressurized rad had the grill bolted on, not the DZUS fasteners. This is as near as I can tell, a mid 42 build, so maybe a partial changeover?

My 1940 H has the DZUS fasteners with the non-pressurized radiator. I don't know when the changeover was made, but I do know the dzus could be replaced with a bolt and nut if needed, although it IS difficult to hold the nut in place while tightening.

Little under 50,000 serial number was the change to bolts for grill attaching. Think a IH pressure radiator or some will still have top holes for early fan enclosure and I think a 42 model one has the cut out for overflow tube. If it has a original type temp gage it was supposed to be changed for a pressure type radiator. IH change over attachment to pressure type included the later tie plate near top back of radiator and the support rod back to center steering support. Also included the center steering support brace. Wide flat steel with 4 holes that went at a 45 degree angle from steering support to fuel tank support, was standard equipment after early tractors.

According to service bulletins, the Dzus fasteners were eliminated in late '41 at 49,750. Change to a pressure system was late '42 at 115,030. This was done to conserve materials (compare number of tubes in original radiators!). In late '43 at 135,902 the little handle was added to the pressure cap.

I can't say if any related sheet metal changes were done in advance of the pressure radiators. In any case, IH produced a lot of Hs with non-pressure radiator and a bolt-on grill.

Oh yeah, a bunch of WWII radiators had steel fins to preserve materials, probably on about the same tractors that had steel serial number plates.
