Would this work?

I have the front loader on my 886 plumbed with the power beyond adapter at the remote valves. If I turn the pressure way down using the quadrant lever could I get the loader to essentially have a "float" position? I need it to follow ground contours. This is one of those cases when I wish they had gone cheap and hooked it to the remotes. Float would be easy then! In thinking, I guess I would have to lock the loader joystick "on" in one direction so fluid could come and go from the cylinders.

Nope, just have a real slow or weak front loader. Float is in the loader valve spool, let's fluid loop from one side of cylinder to the other

and allows the difference between the displacement of the ram end and attachment end to be open to the return. Jim

Is this a configuration you want to be permanent? If the float feature is only needed for a short time project then connect the lift cylinders to one of the remotes so you can use that feature. Then switch back to the joystick when finished. May take a little relearning to control the bucket and lift from two different points. You may need to loop a hose from the two connections on the joystick valve, plugging them may cause accidental dead heading.
