Super-C Thermostat

Are the Original type thermostats available for the Super-C? If not what are others doing to replace them? Is there some kind of adapter available for using the normal thermostats? My tractor never gets to operating temperature because thermostat never closes.
Thanks,
Bob

Mine didn't have one when I got the tractor. There is a groove that has a wire ring that holds them in. Mine was rotted away with the exception of one small piece. I took a Dermal tool and cleaned the housing out. I had a new thermostat laying around out of a 76 Chevy 350 engine. It fit prefect. I could not find a replacement wire ring, so I mixed up a small dab of JB Weld. I put a small bit at the top and bottom to hold it in. I figure if it has to come out, I can just grind it off. Mine was set at 180 degree. I don't believe in no thermostat. In all the high performance engines I have had, you run some sort of restriction in the housing to slow the coolant flow down so it can absorb heat. It has worked fine for over 7 years now.

CaseIH part number for retainer ring is 257441R2.
Here is picture of what it should look like.
Also, make sure you clean out the groove the ring fits to in the housing.

Hope this helps

Just FYI, on my "H" someone left the thermostat out, so I replaced it, and that helped a little. What really fixed the problem was the shutters I installed in front of radiator, now she really warms up, even in the cold.
