Rebuild/'restore'? is it worth it? I have an 806 'on blocks'. Engine is stuck. Prior owner says rain entered through the exaust(it had a rain cap).I found water in the crankcase.I'm thinking head gasket? The tractor is straight.Tin is all there.3 point.Tires are junk. The Wide front is 'wallered' out.The prior owner kept the starter and generator. No fenders. Shows 9500 hrs on tach. So,I wonder if I should 'fix it(to use),or just junk/part it out. There is little to no market for old IH parts here.Every part sold would need to be shipped out. Really hate to junk/haul it to the scrapper. Thoughts? Thanks,Steve

Your just to dang far out for me , as it would be a good winter project . or maybe not . To see what all it needs would require stripping it down to the running gears of a Kattydid. Now as water in the pan , well it could have run past the rings , then again if it only had water in the cooling system then she could have a broke block . Now IF it is gen system then i have spare parts off one i changed to and alt for a friend . Now as to is it worth it to rebuild all depends on how well you like 806's and how big your piggy bank is . Myself i'll take and old tractor over what they are pushing today , atleast you can fix and old tractor .

From what I recall between Susie and yourself, there are only two tractor drivers at the farm. So, with the stable of tractors there already, would it be used? Would it sell? would it replace one you would sell? is the clutch pedal worn flat from stepping on it? Is the hole in the draw bar egged out. Jim

i'd pull the head and oil pan, take a look. maybe only one hole is stuck. does it hold coolant? if the block is still good, it's worth fixing (my very biased opinion).

my thinking is, i don't mind putting 5K into a 2K tractor that would still only sell for 3K IF it will do the same work as a 40K tractor, and not having a bunch of electronics to fail is a bonus. if you have no use for it, tougher call. it would fit in very nicely with the 706 and 1256 though!

If it's an "International" (Wheatland/standard, hand clutch, headlights in the upper grille, no 3pth), it isn't worth much anywhere in the country.

If it's a "Farmall", it will still sell no matter what.
People still need a 3PTH for lots of stuff.
I recently saw a really rough Farmall 806D sell for almost $10,000.

A buddy of mine in North Dakota told me he'd sell me his mint condition Deere 4020 for $6,500 and I almost jumped in the truck that instant until he told me it doesn't have a 3 point hitch. I told him I would never be able to sell it & would have to be buried with it.

Do you know if it has the RD style fuel injection pump or the Roosa master? I might be interested in the injection pump if it has the RD pump. Thanks.
