I'm going to look at a 504 tomorrow (diesel). Anybody got an opinion on this model. The good, the bad and the ugly?

The diesels are good in that they are created from 6 cylinder engines with no real issues. Pretty good tractor. Jim

As Jim says, they are a good tractor. The 4 cylinder specific parts, head, cam, can, block, are harder to find than the 6 cyl parts. Pistons, rods, bearings, liners, are easy to get. Hard starters if the glow plugs don't work correctly.

I have a 1966 IH 504, Hi -Clear 4cyl diesel with 5600 hours on it and i love it. It gets worked daily on the farm.
