Wiring for Magneto to Battery Ignition Swap

I was having trouble with the magneto on my 1954 Farmall Super C tractor not working when the engine was hot. About 10 years ago my Farmall M ignition quit, so I borrowed the battery ignition off my Super C. So now I am returning the battery ignition to the Super C. I have it all mounted and it runs good when I jump power to it from the terminal on the starter. I pulled the battery box out and the ignition switch from the panel, and one side was connected to the wire from the magneto, and the other side just grounded, to serve as a short to turn the magneto off. So now I want to connect that same wire for the battery ignition and don't know where it was originally connected. I have a "Super C Tractor Operator's Manual", but the wiring diagram is hard to see. Does the "L" wire from the regulator (wire 28) come up and feed both the power terminal on the ignition switch and the fuse holder (wire 33) for the lights?

Yes....the VR "L" terminal should be wired both to the ign switch and fuse holder hot terminals.

Have to congratulate you calling it a battery ignition unit and not a DISTRIBUTOR. Just my pet peeve and I have pointed out many times the magneto's on a multi cylinder engine like your C also has a distributor. I know, picky, picky.

Thank you Bob. I am off to the car parts place to get some spade terminals so I can just plug it all together and run it from the switch. My fuse holder has 1/4" spade terminals on it so my "L" wire comes up with a 1/4" spade socket to hook to the spade terminal on the fuse. So I am just going to cut a short piece of 12 gauge wire and put a spade socket on one end and a spade terminal on the other end, with a short feed wire with a ring terminal on it to go to the screw on my ignition switch. That way the "L" wire from the voltage regulator will plug into both the fuse holder that feeds power to the lights, and to the ignition switch to feed power to the ignition coil when turned on. Thanks for your help.

Ok, I got the spade connectors and put together a small patch Y to feed power to both the ignition switch and the light fuse. And after putting it all back together it took a half a crank on the engine to get it running. And the ignition switch worked the way its supposed to. So, the Super C is ready to run tomorrow!
