Re: Cultivision decal years

I think that the official change from "McCormick-Deering" to just "McCormick" was in 1945 or 46. I have also read that the old style decals were used until they were used up, so you may have had some original "McCormick-Deering" style decals into 1947 yet.

The hood decals also should not have the "IH" logo before about 1946.

Guy Fay has published a book called "Farmall Letter Series Tractors Originality Guides" that details all of that and more. It has all the details and exact dates. If you want to get it right, I recommend his book.

I think as stated before the official use was July 1949, but over on the Farmall Cub forum this is a topic of debate often, there have been at least 3 Cubs "one of them mine' that show McCormick Deering decals being used up until the first week of Sept 1949. I would say they were not going to throw anything away and used up what they had.

Rex, you are spot on. IHC factories almost always used existing stock until depleted on "the line" even after changes were handed down from the various IHC committees. When you get to change-over on things like decals, etc. the cutover was usually a "blurred" line vs. a hard cutover. That doesn't apply to all changes, but in general on things like decal placement, and decal makeup, it surely did.
