Is there a starter upgrade available for the 560 diesels, like one of the newer gear reduction models? Or would a 1066 starter fit? Mine may be on it's last leg. Thanks in advance.

A new,or freshly rebuilt starter and good adequet cables/clean shiny ends, along with the correct'high amperage' batterys will start your tractor just fine. No need to get 'exotic'.

yep, they are simple and usually just require bushings, brushes and a drive. and maybe a solenoid.

Just get it refreshed clean commutator and new brusher maybe the bearings it started when new and it will again if the starter and cables are up to snuff of course correct battery helps too.

I'd second having it rebuilt. Usually less than $60. Not much to really go wrong. It's actually not too hard to do yourself. Just cleaning the brushes can do a world of good. There really isn't a lot to go wrong with them.
