460 alternator

hey guys looking to get rid of my generator and voltage regulator set up on my 1960 460 gas. and replace with a 3 wire alternator. does anyone have a diagram on the correct way to do this, or be able to list out the steps to do. thanks

check out archives, Bob M had a great diagram and 460 should be about the same.

If doing an Delco like what was used on say a 1980 Chev pick up wiring ti is easy. Big charge stud wire goes to the load side of the amp gauge by way of a 10 gauge wire. The #1 wire from the plug goes to the ignition switch the side that is hot when turned on or you can go to the ignition side f the coil Best to put a diode or ballast resister in the #1 wire or you may not be able to shut it off. and the #2 wire from the plug goes to the charge stud
