On my 67 504 the bolt holes in the bottom of the rear axle carrier are almost stripped. The stabilizer bracket will not stay tight. I can see drilling for helicoils or drilling and tapping 9/16. Are helicoils strong enough for this? I would need bottoming taps for the blind holes. Can anyone comment on what is involved in pulling the rear axle carrier?
