Farmall MD or Stage II SH

From a collector's stand point, which would you rather have? I had a Stage I Super but have always wanted a Stage II. I have a very nice '51 MD that I've owned for about 6 yrs now...never thought I would get rid of it, but here lately I've been considering selling it or trying to trade it for a Super H. I really miss the smaller frame tractor... seemed more fun to drive. I only get the MD out a couple times a year. What would you do?

A SH is a fine little tractor. More power than a 'straight' H,no where near the power of an M. I'm kind of partial to M's though....Do as you wish, whatever makes you happy.

I would rather have an M series anything over an H series. But if it was a really nice stright SH and priced right. I would buy it.

Fun you own a good MD and get rid of it you will regret it a long time , imho . I do like a SH but don't have a use for it and the MD would be hard to replace .

From a collector's standpoint, you should have both. If you have more use for the super h, then thats a consideraton. I have a first rate md and a restored h. I'd have a hard time deciding which one to get rid of. Very hard to advise on this. If you have inside storage space for the h, I would try to acquire it without sacrificing the md.

I love all the Farmall's but the M's and bigger are just too clumsy for my acreage.
I have Super C's and a stage 1 and a 2 Super H.

If you're looking to get rid of the MD I have a Farmall H in pretty straight condition, with new tires and a rebuilt engine that I am considering selling if you'd be interested in a trade/partial trade.

Personally I like the diesel and think they are pretty cool and neat to use and operate, but that is given you enjoy using it, and are willing to do proper maintenance/starting procedures. Considering you only bring it out a couple of times a year it sounds like you would be right in the H and Super H being more fun to drive since you can pull them out whenever you want without worrying about going through the starting procedure.

If you think you'd have any interest in a trade let me know,

Thanks

I have a SMD and have driven H's I would keep the MD they are becoming harder to find and you know what you have put into your tractor

Thanks for the comments guys. I know you can't tell me what to do...just thought I would get your opinions. Honestly the MD probably isn't going anywhere. I'll just hold out until I can get a Stage II SH too since I have room.

I've had probably 20 tractors over the last 10 years as I enjoy buying/selling and working on them. Have done a few full restorations but I don't like painting!

Here are a few pics of the MD. It's a nice tractor and I have done some work to it...will probably finish what needs done this winter. Can't decide if I want to pain it, or maybe just clear coat it as-is.
