Two problems:

1. New regulator and rebuilt generator but with the tractor running, always a negative discharge. How can I simply check generator output with
my volt meter.

2. Big problem...new head gasket. Head and block looked flat, clean and no evidence of cracks. Cleaned everything well, carefully torqued down
the bolts and antifreeze leaking into oil! Ran it several times to heat up and cool down, retorqued and still leaking ?????

Being a wet sleeve engine good chance the sleeve seals are bad and that will cause the problem your having. One way to find it is pull the oil pan and then lay a piece of card board under it and if you can pressurize the cooling system and watch where the leak comes from

(quoted from post at 23:45:18 08/30/16) Did you polarize the gen should be pos gnd are you sure the reg and gen match does the reg say pos gnd.

Alot of times the wires at the back of the ammeter simply need switching around. Make sure you have it hooked up positive ground and polarize it.

The issue about the head.....did you torque the bolts to 80 ft lbs ? That is the spec and some of the older manuals are wrong. Also check for hairline cracks in the block from the waterjacket holes to cylinders.
