I have more questions for the forum as there is nobody around where I live I can go to for input and I can't afford to take the tractor to the local repair shop for what I believe to be minor adjustment. My question is the Amp lite on my tractor does not go out am wondering if the generator is not charging or if the battery needs to be replaced it is going on 7 years old tractor does not get run often as I do not plant with it. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

At 7 years, the odds are real strong that the batterys are toast.Replace both. one bad battery will quickly ruin a new one if
both are not replaced at the same time.Take the generator off and take it to napa. They will(or should) spin test it for free.

Run a quick google search for "John T Generator Troubleshooting." That will give you a very easy to follow guide to checking out the generator for yourself and making sure the entire charging system is working.

My experience is taking the generator to have it tested is a waste of time. They always test good. Plus there's more to it than just the generator. There's the regulator, wiring, grounding... Everything is important in making the generator charge the battery.
