Farmall M Right Brake

Hey guys, finally got my M home and am going to tackle the wiring this weekend. Unloading it from the trailer I noticed that the right brake grinds like it is engaged but it is not...It only makes a noise in reverse.

I raised up the rear end and I can spin the left tire but can not spin the right. Tractor is in neutral and brake is off....any ideas what is going on?

Overly tight adjustment, or metal to metal worn out band, or sticky from decomposed oil "gummy goop" on the band. The bands can self wrap o the drums, causing
noise and drag. Jim

Should I just pull the cover our is there more to it than that?

The lever arm on the shaft will prevent full removal, don't bend it, but you can probably see behind it without removing the lever. Jim
