Need to replace the 4th gear on my Farmall 656 (broken tooth), and I would like some advice from others who have done this job.
I have a new gear set (sliding and countershaft gear), and also a splitting frame. I've got the I & T manual to guide me through it.
How difficult is it to remove the top transmission cover? I have a rolling engine hoist I was going to use. Any advice on where to attach it, to lift it off
squarely? Do I need to remove the hydraulic unit under the seat?
Anything special I need to know about splitting the tractor, hydraulic lines, etc?
What problems can happen with removing the countershaft?
How long should something like this take to do?
Would greatly appreciate any advice and pointers from others who have done this job. Thank you!
