I have a 1957 450 motor spun a main bearing so I put a motor in it out of a 400. Now when I put it in gear and try to push with the loader it just stops moving motor stays at same rpm just stops moving forward. When I put it in road gear it goes slow but if I run the ta lever in and out it picks up speed. Amy ideas would be nice.

Your clutch is slipping. Did you cap the clutch pressure plate when installing and forget to remove the bolts or spacers used to cap it. Do you have free travel on your clutch pedal.

I did not cap it just pulled it from the 400 and put it in the 450 I don't have any free play I adjusted the pedal to the point it would stop the tractor when pushed in

Did you adjust the link between the clutch shaft and the ta shaft after you adjusted the main clutch? If not it will ruin your ta clutch.

I adjusted my cluch pedal to the 1 1/8 in free play and now when I push cluch in I can not change gears it just grinds and when in gear it tris to keep moving with cluch in. I'm not sure what I to do next.

Either the clutch is shot or you put something together wrong. Regardless, you will have to split the tractor again to figure it out.

Put the clutch from the 450 back in if it was good. In hindsight it probably wasn't a good idea to use the clutch that was on the 400 engine if you didn't know its condition. Because now you do. The hard way.

The guy that sold me the engine said the
cluch was new and that the ta went out on
the 400 so that is why I never did anything
with the cluch.
