Tearing into this ol thing i bought- project tractor. Would anyone know what kind/type of "fitting" screws into the original carburator ? It has a "compression fitting" of some sort with a hose on it going to the settiment bowl; Not sure the threads in the carburator? Thanks. 1844 H

Off the top of my head I am not sure but I have a H carb that I rebuilt sitting in the trunk of my car that I could look at.

Yes,it is a compression or flair type. But I cant remember the size. Take the carb ond other related pieces to NAPA and get a match up.IIRC,the carb uses a straight thread 'adapter' sealed with a flat 'paper' washer. The flair screws into that.IIRC...If you dont care about "correct",but just want reliable service,yu can go with rubber fuel hose and an inline filter.

myself i do not believe in those in line filters on a gravity system. they are designed for a fuel pump to push fuel through them. you have the sediment bowl to catch the big stuff and from new there was a screen in there also.but so many got thrown out. there is also another fine screen in that carb inlet fitting your talking about. line can be made with couple ferrels and some steel line as thats what is required to go with the fitting.

Screen with fitting screws into carburetor. 5/16 flare tubing nut will screw in those threads. But the correct tubing nut is special with the compression part made on the nut, then they separate when installed. Carburetor threads are something not common now.

Im not wanting to "add" inline filter....the sediment bowl is enough for me; im trying to find the :correct" fitting for the carburator inlet. Thanks.

that would be awesome! Still might not know how to tell what to look for? Whats it doing in your trunk? LOL....for sale? Thanks!

A number of years ago a guy with an Adams road grader that has an H engine in it was having problems getting it to run. So I rebuilt his carb and while I was at it I rebuilt this one that is in my trunk and took them both with me to work on his grader. So it ended up in my trunk and has been there ever since. As for it being for sale yep I would sell it. My e-mail is open as always

If you want something like the original this site and other aftermarket places sell a fuel line with fittings. If making your own line Stiener tractor parts is one place that sells the tubing nut number IHS2622, case IH number 29889D or 19984R1. If missing the fuel inlet with screen that screws in carburetor casting its number IHS972. This site and plenty other places sell those.
