I've been helping a neighbor family with their 1953 Super M. Its been apart for 6 or 7 years they say. Had the engine rebuilt and finally got around to getting the tractor put back together. Trying to start it has been one problem after another. Its been converted to 12 volt and everything looks correct. Problem is the tractor wont fire. Can't even get a pop or a backfire out of it. Anyone have a suggestion as to what the issue or issues may be? Have tried pulling it, belting it to another tractor, and every time get nothing. Have spark at the plugs. Rotated plug wires in case timing was off, that didn't help. I'm wondering if there is a carburetor issue not allowing fuel to flow as it should. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you were towing it around did any gas run out of the carb. Those all Farmalls will do that with a lot of cranking and no start. If not then you are not getting gas. Is there a plug in the carb - if so pull it and let the gas run for a few minutes. Should be a good stream the whole time.If not then probably junk anywhere in the line all the way back to the gas tank. If you are getting gas then maybe not being pulled into the pistons. If you pull a spark plug is it wet with gas.Since you had the tractor apart have you checked for compression. No compression means it won't draw up gas and something is put back together wrong.Lots of other possibilities but you need to start eliminating some of them like gas to the carb and to the pistons. Is the manifold on tight with no leaks. Do you have the plug wires on in the correct order. Have you set the valves for the correct clearances and are they opening and closing.

Got fire to the points? Sometimes a set of points that sit will get a corosive 'film',preventing 'fire'.I've had that happen on several engines that have sat for a long time.A swipe with file or emery will clean them and they will start.
