560 clutch input shaft

So I have started to put the diesel back together as a gas with a swap of motors. When I put the clutch disc on the input shaft it moves maybe a quarter of an inch in and out. Is this too much and I should pull it back apart and change bearings? I can't see a good view how much there could/should be in the IT manual and the CaseIH site has been down for me. Will it make any difference on a light use tractor?
Thanks for the replies.

If referring to the shaft clutch disc splines go on it will move forward and back some. When engine is mounted the pilot bearing will limit the forward movement.

Thanks, I didn't want to go farther putting the front end on if I had to take it back apart. I changed the pilot bearing before I put the flywheel back on so that should be good.
Thanks again.
Roger
