Water temp. Sender 986

The temp. Gauge on my 986 pegs to the right when I turn on the key. Sometimes it will read normally, what is the best way to ck the sender? And also what is the best way to remove the sender? Thanks , DTK

It would seem to me if you started the tractor and used an OHM meter it should change as it warms up. Then change again as it cools off.
