So I purchased tune up parts for the Prestolite IBT4102
These are Echlin #'s
AL150 (rotor)
AL70(cap)
AL868(condensor)
CS729A(points)
My fear is other than the points. None of this looks identical to the "old" stuff..
Anyone know these numbers? I don't know how old timers got anything for these tractors, especially if someones swapped stuff out. C'mon it's a Tractor, it should be simple....
Any insight or criticism is welcomed

It doesn't have to look identical. It has to fit.

If it doesn't fit you got the wrong stuff. That's the long and short of it.

The 544 was a relatively low-production tractor 50 years ago, with an oddball distributor unique to that particular engine. You're really expecting this to be easy?

BTW, I looked up the C-200 engine on the caseih parts website, and pulled up the 2nd distributor listed. The parts numbers cross to the NAPA numbers you listed below, except for the cap. So, you have the right parts for *A* distributor that came on a 544.

The other distributor shown looks to have a distributor cap held down with 4 bolts.

If you have the distributor with the 4-bolt cap, here are the NAPA numbers for the parts you need:

Cap: RR181
Rotor: not available at NAPA, but available through CaseIH.
Condensor: RR174SB
Points: not available at NAPA, but available through CaseIH.

In fact, ALL these parts are available through CaseIH. If your local parts guy says otherwise, he is an idiot. You can either escalate this to the manager, or order online through any of a number of CaseIH dealers, such as Messick's.

The parts guy should be looking at the C-200 engine book, not the 544 book. That's usually the mistake these minimum wage parts guys make due to lack of experience.

Here's the parts book page for the 4-bolt-cap distributor:

I get it, nothing is a easy as it seems. I have the clip cap. Just frustrated. It doesn't help that the tractor is 100 miles away and there's a ton of
stuff to do on the farm. We'll get it eventually. Thanks for the wisdom
