Farmall 460 LP

I have a 460 LP that has always been a good starter, and it ran out of LP last summer and I never got around to putting any in it till late last week. Went to start it this morning, and with the key in the on position, then pressing the small rubber covered start button, it starts and runs while holding the start button in, but as soon as I release the start button it quits running. I am not the best figuring these old things out, so and all advice or things to look at will be very much appreciated.

It may have a ballast resister that has failed. Under starting the resister is bypassed and the coil was fed full 12 volts until you release the button. If it starts and dies upon releasing the button either that component or some part of that area of the wiring circuit has failed. Run a hot wire to the coil and see if it stays running, if so start tracing wires from the coil back to the dash and see where you find power.

An after thought about how the lp is controlled . Is there a solenoid to control the gas flow or how is the fuel controlled on these?

If you worked on the starter switch (button), you need to reverse the connections. I did that once.
