OT Continental F140 oil pump

I'm rebuilding the motor for my MH 60 PT combine and can't find an oil pump kit. The ones available now have a 9 3/8" long shaft. The one out of this motor is 10 1/2" long.

The manual says the gears should have from .001 to .003 clearance in the chamber and make no contact with the walls. The picture shows a hand sticking a feeler gauge between the gear and the housing. They also give a spec for the end plate clearance, but nothing about the clearance between the gears.

Does the gear clearance matter ? If so, what do you think it should be ?

Thanks

Greg

My take is the .001 to .003 clearance in the chamber would be the clearance between the teeth when assembled in the chamber.
Cover clearance is important and I would shoot for .002 rather than .006.
I would not want gears to drag on cover.
I only see one kit for F140, Sealed Power # 224-5131 or pump assembly 224-4131.
Good luck!

Hi Duner,

Thanks for the reply.

Dennis from Steiner Tractor remeasured the pump drive shaft and the entire length is 10 1/2" so i will order a rebuild kit from them. The guy at the machine shop couldn't get anything and I got the impression his supplier backed away from the pump pretty briskly... I guess I'll see what I get. If worse comes to worse I'll use the gears and the gaskets.

Hope it works out.
I do have a parts manual for F140 but not idea where to find it,
It is not in the most logical pile.
If you get in a pickle post back and I will dig more.
