Dishing a Wheel on Farmall M

Need to dish one wheel on a Farmall M to make it narrow enough to fit trailer. Question 1, How much does the wheel and tire weight without fluid in tire? Question 2, can I just take out the 4 hub bolts and slide/lift off the wheel leaving the small part of the hub in the same place without taking it off? It looks like the hub is the same either way on the axle.

Thanks

My experience on the "H" Farmall is that an old man like me can slightly jack up the axle, and undo the 6 clamp bolts and CAREFULLY remove the tire with rim, and CAREFULLY roll it sideways if the old boy is careful. Heavy, but manageable, if you walk it / rock it left and right and left and right. I have to use a front end loader and chain to pick up the weight of the big 6-spoke cast iron center part, to move it. Use wood cribbing to support the axle, NO concrete blocks, they're fragile as crystal.

The tire/wheel weigh several hundred pounds. As long as you don't let it tip it is very manageable, but you need at least 2 healthy people to handle things, 3 preferred. Two to manage the wheel/tire and one to run the jack.

If, by the "small part of the hub" you mean the clamp, once you take the four bolts out you can just slide it right out of there. It is a very small lightweight piece. Or, you can just loosen the bolts and leave the clamp with the hub. It is also very manageable that way.

Turn the wheel so the clamp is on the bottom. The wheel will hang on the axle as you jack the tractor up. You can "walk" the wheel on and off the axle once the clamp is loosened/removed by lowering the jack slowly and carefully, letting the wheel lean slightly in the direction you want to go, then raising the jack.

On an H the center weighs about 200#. I don't know but I assume the M is a bit heavier. Without fluid the tire/rim is not that heavy, maybe 200# tops. With fluid they are very heavy.
