Farmall f20 sbc swap

Hi, I recently started making a v8 pulling tractor out of a 383 SBC and a Farmall F20. Is it better to have a vehicle transmission connected to the engine then connect to the clutch or to hook the engine straight up to the clutch?

Use the the 383 flywheel and clutch. connect that to the F20 transmission input shaft. you may need to build an adapter. I put
a 2.8 V6 (BroncoII)into an F12. used the V6 flywheel,clutch,bellhouseing.Disassembled the bronco's 5speed. took its input
shaft, plugged that into the V6 clutch. Then machined the trans end to accept the F12 input yoke. used a 'rag joint'from a thich piece of belting to connect them,Works super. Then I put 13.6x26
combine tires(JD55) on homemade rims and adapted a SuperCwide front to it. I call it the 'Rat tractor' LOL

What's the benefit of having a vehicle transmission too along with the original one? I've seen a few where they lengthened the frame and put one in

The SBC does not make a whole of torque at lower RPMs. Adding a second transmission allows you to run the engine at a speed where it WILL make torque, but will NOT increase the travel speed of the tractor.

So is it better to have a vehicle trans in the tractor for pulling or what?
