Hyd. fluid check location.

have a IH 404 utitily that I have asked around as to were the hyd. check plug is located everyone has a difference statement I have a operators manuel but it is of no use. I need to find it as it has hiccups. pretty bad I know were fill plug but not the check plug all help will be greatly appr. thank you. :?:
 
Not real familiar with that model tractor, however, from looking at the parts diagrams I see a suction tube going from the draft control housing. That would tell me the hydraulic pump is drawing it's oil from the final drive housing same as larger model tractors do just in a different way. So, you would check the oil level plug on the left hand side of transmission housing, near clutch pedal. But, that is not going to solve your hiccough problem in my estimation. You have a leak in the draft control cylinder or valve. That causes the hitch to lower a bit and follow up linkage corrects it to original position again. Does hitch lower by it's when engine is shut off. That will confirm leak. If it only goes down a trifle land stop, you may have a sticking drop check valve from swollen O-rings.
