I know this has been beat to death, but I had a little chuckle today. It's about to be near 100 and dry so it will be hay:30 this week. I serviced the 886 to be ready for the 50 hours the next couple of weeks will bring. It had 3300 original hours at this service. I blew out the outer air filter the last time so I decided to get a new one. I'm not sure why I hadn't noticed it, but the inner filter is dated September 1989. I wonder how many hours are on that? I think I got my money's worth out of it. The outer was from 2000. When the original owner stopped using it frequently I guess he didn't change those filters!

Why don't people scratch the date AND hours on filters? It makes me crazy! On the big trucks I even write on the under side of the hood with a sharpie.

I scratch or write the date on most everthing. Just put up a new carbon monoxide detector today. Old one said END and I looked at date. It was nine years old. Seems like only a couple of years ago I installed it. My wife asked me if I put a date on her. I said, yup, met you in June of 1954 and married her a little over a year later. Our son in law has a bird when he sees some of the dates on the canned goods we have. Wants to throw them. That doesn't fly. He made up a bunch of scrambled eggs for breakfast a couple weeks ago. I told wife, those eggs have been in fridge for two weeks and if he says anything, I have a fresh carton down stairs in other fridge. I also have a lot of egg cartons and one of them would have gotten marked a new date with same eggs if he had said anything.
