Hi,
Can anyone give me some info about a power steering cylinder on a 650 tractor. Mine is leaking bad and was told that I could get parts for it anywhere. Also I have a 450 and a Farmall A that shimmy something terrible when I drive them. I know tie rod ends are worn but what else could cause this issue and what can be done to fix it. Thanks

When it comes to finding parts and seals. I some times will stop in to a tractor place that knows some thing in Case/ I.H. and get some imformation on the parts I need. Check there prices with a case delarship. If that does not work than go for Steintractor parts they are usally pretty good.

as for the A shimming, follow the steering rod to the gear box and most likely you will find problem: worn gears. these are pricey. pembroke

On the 450, pull the top plate off of the front column
& turn the steering wheel to see where the play is in
the worm gear & sector.

The sector can be taken off & rotated 1/3 way around
to have new teeth for the worm gear to ride on.
If the bearings are worn or shot, they can be renewed.

The A---turn the steering shaft back & forth & look for
looseness where the arm comes out of the gear box.
Arm that actuates the tie rods can be tightened.

The A has so many places it can be loose a little here and there and soon you just have to start with the ball ends i use a sanding disc on a grinder and make the balls round again using a calipers they dont have to be within thous just close adjust and turn lock to lock till they are free and tight then its the output shaft see that its tight then you mite need to go into the steering sector itself the key and bushings and or course seals when done maybe even the bearing but you can make them like new again. I havent ever needed to replace the gear or the worm.
