guys looking at a ih 885 that has a motor that needs rebuilt looked at the cost for a total rebuild with crank and I am ok with that for what I can get the tractor for. my question are they good tractors, I redid a 584 a few years ago and like the little guy for hay and things like that and that's what this tractor would be mainly for and stacking round bales with a loader and auger work in the fall. let me know what you guys think good or bad.

885 is basically the same tractor as the 584, with a different hood and a bigger engine. No doubt some drivetrain internals are beefier to handle the higher horsepower too.

If you liked the 584, you'll like the 885.

I believe it is the same as my 884 with case international
being the difference , if so it is a good tractor and the
268 diesel is economical to use it will burn 5 gallons an
hour if it has to but lounging around it just sipps fuel .
