Calling Cen Tex Farmall

Cen Tex, I notice you seem to be highly knowledgeable on LP (propane) tractors. I have a Farmall 460 LP. It has lotsa "news" (rear & front tires, clutch, TA, seat, steering wheel, etc.) But, having purchased a new Farmall 75C, I'm ready to part with the 460. Do you have any suggestions of where to advertise it? For example, are there any LP/propane collectors? Thanks for any help, kelly

Well, I try to study and find out all I can but I wouldn't call myself an expert!

Having propane is a double edge sword; there were not as many of a given model compared to gas but then there is also not a huge number of people wanting to fool with propane.

I would say put an ad on this site. There's a lot of tractors put up everyday but the search feature works ok enough for people to find particular things. People are used to looking here. Also put an ad on the Craigslist for the nearest large city and another one in a large city 100 or 200 miles from the first one. People tend to search the large city C/L ads more and now there are custom Google searches that will check all C/L ads in the US. Take a photo from each quarter at a minimum and be plenty descriptive in the ad.

Be prepared to be patient. I'm friends with several guys who buy to sell and the old tractor market is pretty darn slow right now. You'll find the right buyer but it may take a little while.

Thanks for the advise. From your handle I'm guessing you are in the Waco area. I'm between San Marcos and New Braunfels. Some of us need to get together for coffee sometime. Kelly

I've been to the Temple show a couple of times in the past ten or so years. I have another hobby, I go on trail rides where I drive a team of horses and wagon. Usually there is a week-long trail ride at the time of the Temple show. By the way, I do a tiny bit of farming and it is only hay and oats. I cut all my hay with an old sickle mower and my team of horses. Maybe we'll run into each other at the Temple show, but I'm pretty sure my ol' 39 H isn't gonna be there, as its no way pretty enuff! kelly
