1936 Farm all F-12

I have a 1936 Farmall F-12 that I haven't had running since 2007 it needed the fuel pump rebuilt and carb cleaning so I finally got it out and cleaned and rebuilt the carb and rebuilt the fuel pump and attempted to start it by filling the carb full of gas through the little cast piece that is bolted on the hood to prime the pump and cranked it over by hand it didn't fire so I thought I should check if it had spark which it didn't so I filed the points turned over and it had good spark I put in brand new long electrode plugs and cranked it over it fired up and died again so I cranked it over again several times and it popped a few times and died and it always dies when the automatic impulse pawl stops clicking it has an IH F4 magneto I'm wondering if the mag is getting weak due to it has spark when the impulse pawl is engaged but when the engine hits 250rpms the impulse pawl disengages and there is no spark I checked that by using an inline spark tester and the minute the pawl disengages then there's no spark am I heading in the right direction any other suggestions to check or try will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
