C-263 govenors, 656, 706 etc. What are some common issues?

I have one of each and am wondering what kind of issues might be common in these. Such as items that may wear out or be prone to problems.

Like all governors of that type, the weights and pins wear. Also, many of those pins are not installed exactly right and the wear point is on the split part of the roll pins which makes for less than perfect movement of weights. Note the weights are different size between higher and lower rpm engines. Lighter weights for higher rpm engines. The thrust bearing is the biggest single difference between a sensitive or dead governor on those series. It took IH many years to come up with a good sensitive bearing after trying many different ones on the 560's. A new 656 had a very sensitive governor compared to a 560. So much so that the surge dampening spring adjustment became very important on them so that spring has to be good and also solid fastened to the shaft with that set screw. Bushing on control arms also wear making that important. Proper adjustment of the rod between gov and carb critical along with good bushings and shaft in carburetor.

I had all sorts of troubles with my 560 governor till I replaces the worn spring. It made it much more responsive and got rid of the sticking as
the mechanism moved off Idle. I never would have guessed it and changed it out of desperation. Guessing the wear in the hook end was
causing it to hang up.
