Farmall 450 oil filter

I got a oil filter from NAPA and its a NAPA Gold 1125 which is what they say fits a Farmall 450. The only thing it won't work because the top of filter where bolt goes through is larger in diameter than the filter I took out and won't let filter slip all the way into canister. Have any of you used the 1125 filter or is there another NAPA number that will fit? I might have to call another auto supply that handles Baldwin and Hastings filters and see what they have. We lost our Case-IH dealer 3 years ago and have to now drive 50 miles to the nearest dealer.

Don't know anything about NAPA filter's or numbers, but Baldwin doesnt come with a new bottom O ring, you have to order that separate,or maybe your Baldwin dealer still order's his filters, with it,mine doesn't !!!

Unless it's a diesel that should be the filter. Filter should have a raised area with hole at top that fits on bolt. Then raised area should mount up to shoulder on mounting bolt. When bolt goes in the big filter diameter of filter should protrude around 3/8 inch plus or minis out of canister.

The raised area on top side of the new filter is maybe an inch in diameter and does fit bolt but doesn't want to go all the way to top of canister. All the measurement of new filter are the same as old filter except that raised area which is about 1 inch diameter on new filter and is a tube that just fits bolt on old filter ( IH ). This 450 is a 1958 gas model. I found an old photo of oil filter canister of tractor.

Filter doesn't go to top of canister. Needs to go down in hole at base bottom. Put filter in base hole. Measure from compressed gasket surface to filter top with hole. Slide filter bolt in canister all the way. Measure from canister bottom to shoulder of bolt. Compare measurements. Filter may never bounce out at bottom but I usually compare measurements and add a washer or two if needed at shoulder so filter gets recessed fully at base.
Picture is the correct IH filter housing.
