IH 284 3 pt set up

I just bought a 284 IH compact tractor. thing-this tractor has a 3 pt set up that I've not encountered before. there are 2 lift arms up high. the 2 lower hook ups are just pins. is this typical for IH? this is my 1st IH tractor. i'm going to be looking for a grader blade, plow, disc, harrow, & tiller. is this 3 pt arrangement specific to IH or IH compact tractors?

If thats the one with the mower deck, you could be missing your lower lift arms and the upper lift arms are used to raise and lower your mower deck. I know the little Fords like the 1600 of that era used cables from the deck to the rear lift arms(rockshaft)

the 3 pt systems i'm familiar with lift with the 2 lower arms & the 3rd upper link is a leveling adjustment. this lifts from 2 upper arms. the woods mower is lifted via the arms which are hooked to chains. a set of lower arms did come with the tractor but these also would just go along for the ride. the lifting would still be done by the upper arms. i'm trying to figure out how it would work if I need to hook up a plow or disc or?

I don.t think you are going to be able to use the mower and the three point(complete) at the same time. Its going to be one or the other.

I've come to that conclusion already. i'm trying to figure out how the 3 pt would work with other implements when the mower is detached. the lower arms hang on pins. if say a plow was hooked to the 3 pt. would it be lifted with chains or cables like the mower?

as promised the owner located & produced the owners & parts manuals. there are links that connect to the lifting arms, hang down, & connect to the 2 lower arms for lifting. it all makes sense now. when in doubt, read the directions? this seems to be a pretty good tractor. IH made a kit & the owner opted to convert the exhaust to run down & out the rear instead of thru the hood. it looks like the muffler could interfere with the lower arms when hooking up other implements. since all he ever did was mow with the woods deck that did not matter to him. I did get the original manifold with it so if it is indeed a problem I can put it back to the original configuration. i've also noticed that the left floorboard gets a little warm with the exhaust pipe running under it.
