My cousins have a 1460 IH Combine that might need the injection pump solenoid. He was told to be sitting down when hearing the price (about $1000). Are there any alternatives?

I might have to mention the return core part to them as they had asked for just the solenoid but they wouldnt separate it from a good pump.

As a matter of fact, there is. I just did one a few months back, $1300 from IH. The solenoid had an IH part number on it, so I Googled it, and found pretty much the same price for it as an IH part across the internet. But, the solenoid also had another stamping on it, said ---mfg followed by another number that appeared to be a part number. So I Googled that number, and wala, same part. The number was the manufacturers number, and when I found their page, they are a supplier to many companies' fuel system electric components. Their price on the same solenoid, was around $600, which is still steep, but nice to know that you can save more than half by just skipping IH and going direct to the manufacturer. Just see if he can see the other markings on the solenoid, they were hard to see if I recall. If he can't, and you can't find one, let me know and I'll call the guy I did that one for, I'm sure he still has the old one around there so I could get a number off it. He ended up buying one from Worthington's, they got him a used one for $300, that looked like it had been dropped on the freeway during rush hour. But the owner was ok with that, now whether it lasts 2 weeks or 20 years, I guess he'll find out, no warranty on it.

My cousin said they found a used solenoid to try. Thank you to everyone for your help.
