Looking for info on casting numbers and serial numbers for a 340 so I can get engine parts all kits I find say before and after 100,500 are different but all I can find are casting numbers and the tractors serial number

Look for a number stamped into a boss on the upper edge of the block just below #1 spark plug. Look at the right edge of this picture to see one.

You sure your not reading 1 to many digits, i have a 340, it's only got. 5 digits, The tractor serial number is on the clutch housing isn't it, cant remember where the engine serial number is, i suspect it's on the the Boss, on the block. They only made 7,200 Farmalls and less than 12,000 utilitys. If u have a U on the end of the serial number on the tractor, or the block it's a High-Altitude Attachment, that is the most important thing u have to watch for.

Like the picture show's it above the no.1 spark plug. If the boss isn't there someone ground it off, and i doubt if that happened.

No u on tractor serial number and yes I know that only made around 7500 row crops but that engine was used in other tractors I believe the C 300 AND 330? I will look on boss I didn't see a number but will have to clean it up better thanks
