806 hydraulic

Well I am not sure whether it was the tractor or the sprayer yet. I did change to the 856 from the 806 It is working. I did also find out that the valves are supposed to be closed center valves. That is something I didn't know.
This morning I put a gage on the line from the tractor back to the valve block. With the 856 I got the 1800-2000 PSI . So moved the gage to the end of the line where it goes into the cylinder. At an idle I got about the same pressure as the 806 when the idle was raised the pressure came up. I got about the 1800-2000 PSI at the end of the line where the cylinder goes. I went down and sprayed about half of the tank out. I also took a chain to put on the booms so they couldn't sag if the problem arose again.
I still am not sure what the problem is. I guess when I get done spraying or a freak rain day, I will look at the 806 closer. Might even check the flow more too. I suppose the pump could putout pressure and not volume. Thus causing the problem.
I do know with the 856 if you want to move or lift the booms you have to shutoff the pump circuit.
That is what I found out today.

Well you can screw around playen with gauges all ya want but till ya flow rate the pump and know your GPM at operating pressure your spitten in the wind . and you may need to change out you couplers as they maybe given ya fits . If the pump is bad then up grade to a 15 GPM pump and swap out the pressure relief valve with a 1066 . Had a problem with the one 706 that one min it would not lift the haybine and if ya fooled around it might lift the next time . Put the flow rater on it and heated up the oil to 180 degrees and then ran a flow check and came up with just a shade over 8 gpm at 1400 lbs . Stuffe in a new pump and put the 66 relief valve to it and it would snap the hay bine up in a split second .
If this sprayer is something newer you may find that the old trusty 806 and even the 856 does not run it like it is suppose to run . The newer equipment is being made for systems with three time the GPM and much higher pressures . One of the local bigger dairy guys bought a new big planter and when he took it to the field found out that his Older tractor would not lift or run it as it did not have 50 GPM and 2500 PSI . So he was forced to get a newer tractor with a larger capacity hyd system . And since i am not in your back yard i just can't run on over and hook up the flow rater and tell ya just what is happening..

Yup you are right TV I just wanted to get the product out of the tank. It is an old sprayer for a pickup I put on a truck frame. Probably 20 years old or more.
TV can I just pump for one minute into pails to find the flow or does it need to be under pressure at the same time for that to work? I don't have a flow rater to use. The reason I ask.

If you have an Ace pump go on their Web site and you will learn a lot. To have any chance of running a spray pump with hydraulic motor with an open center system you need a pump motor that is sized to their remote flow. If matched up right you will not need that much pressure and heat build up will be manageable. If you buy a used sprayer set up for an old 4430 Deere the motor will be too small and it will have a restrict or orifice in their line to their pump motor. You will probably have to live with shutting off pump to fold boom.

You can get a free flow guesstament but not a pressure flow. and also it is nice to see what they do once they have warmed up to operating temp.under pressure . Best money i have ever spent on tools was when i bought 90% of the old I H dealership shop tools and the flow rater now if only i had the analyzer to go with the flow rater then i could work on the PFC systems .

Also ya might just bit the bullet and either take the old heifer in to a dealer or have them come out and do a flow rate , yea it will cost a few bucks but that way ya know what your problem is and then you can address the problem youself and as you have the bucks to do so . If we all had big bucks we would not be tryen to farm with old equipment . I have several old customers that have them new gas and oil wells on there places that got big bucks when this all started and they did buy some new stuff with that first big check they got and planning to buy more as the big bucks started rollen in . Well last year before Christmas them big checks STOPPED rollen in and most of the wells were turned off and most have not seen a royalty check since then and are now back in the same hole they were in before grain prices went up and milk prices went down . I have several guys that still owe me for work and i am back to the payment plan sorta like the trickle down where i get fifty here and maybe a hundred there once a month . They all keep sayen WHEN MY WELL COMES IN i'll do this or i'll do that and i'll get you caught up but for now we get the trickle down affect . I am doing things that i do not like to do just to keep them going .

Cornerpost Yup that can happen when you buy the Deere set up and go put it on the IH. I bought the pump new for the tractor so it does not have a big heat problem. This is somewhat different as I changed tractors and now have gotten the tank sprayed out. I put a chain across from one side to the other so the booms couldn't touch the ground in case I had another problem. I guess the 856 is going to be on the sprayer for the rest of the spraying.

TV What will one cost and can I use one like in the Northern tool catalog or is there some thing special about them? I would buy one after acquiring some more information about them. Having not used one or been around one I would like more information on them. I can be reached by phone best at 989 413 5684 If you would like to call rather than all the typing.
