Farmall Model A kill switch Backwards?

My model A has started having problems with the shut off switch. As the manual says, you're supposed to push it in to shut off, but it seems to kill the engine when you pull it out. There's a spring in it that keeps it pushed in to a certain extent. While running it the other day, the engine would not stop unless I pull the kill switch out. Seems opposite of what it should be.

Sounds like your tractor has a magneto ignition and a switch that is intended for a distributor ignition. If that's the case, the "system" is working as it should and no point in changing it unless you're concerned about the correct police.

If you have not changed anything and it was work as it should before, then I'd say the switch has failed get a new switch and give it a try.

If it just started doing it, the switch is failing internally. YTmag sells either mag, or battery ignition switches. Be careful
to match the ignition on 6your tractor, they are different. Jim
