Denso alternators

I've installed lots of Delco and Hitachi 3 wire
alternators. I want to use a Denso which is even
smaller than the Hitachi on my next project. I perfer
the 3 wire with a diode over a one wire so you don't
have to rev the tractor up to excite the alternator.
Does anyone know which lug on the Denso is the
excite lug and which is the sensing lug?

It's only got two spades for the small wires. Used on a Kubota RTV 900. I know one is the exciter and one the sensing, just don't know which is which.

Connect the alternator cast to the negative post of a battery. Use a jumper wire to connect to the terminals one at a time. The one that causes magnetism at the back of then case is the excite terminal.

Get it mounted so you can run it with the battery wire on the big stud. From that run a wire with a small light bulb to a terminal. If it charges, you found it. If not, try the other one.

If you consider the spade terminals as forming the letter T, the stem of the T is the excite - it goes to the warning light. The top of T is the sense terminal.

Note the terminals may be numbered 1 and 2 respectively.
