One thing leads to another with this thing. As long as I have the fuel tank off, well, the valve cover looked rusty too, and I can't take it off if I've reinstalled the gas tank, so I might as well deal with that now.
THEN, I noticed that I could see the ground between the exhaust manifold and the block. Even a non-genius like me knows that ain't right. So, off come the manifolds.
The intake manifold has two rings that go to the forward and rear intake ports. There is no such ring in the middle port. The parts manual calls them "intake manifold pilots".
My curiosity is piqued. Does anyone know the purpose of these rings? Are they to help with the re-assembly? Why not one in the middle?
One of these days I hope to start re-assembly!!!!
Thanks,
Jim
