H Farmall with Schwartz wide front - I noticed that the steering was getting a little looser on the H. The Schwartz wide front has an adapter plate that connects the upper bolster to the inner tie rod ends (adapter replaces the lower bolster). The bolts that hold that adapter plate to the upper bolster shaft are loose.

How do you get in there to tighten them ? Does the upper bolster have to come down ? Does the front end have to come off ? Any ideas ?

Thanks

Greg

If you cannot get at them one at a time by turning to new position for each bolt, you will have to drop it down enough to get at it. Make sure to support tractor properly when doing this. Don't rely on a jack to hold it.

Thanks Pete, I was able to jam three of heads enough with a punch to get the nuts to tighten (more than finger tight) using an impact wrench. I'll have to drop the front end a little to get the 4th one.

The upper seal on the bolster shaft is leaking so I suppose the bushing is worn. It might be time to do a little more than tighten the bolts, once we get through planting...
