Hello Gentlemen, I have a row crop 300 which is a good old tractor, I have never had any problems ever with the PTO until the other day when I engaged the PTO and nothing, it worked perfect the last time I used it, no noise nothing,
I see on the right side above the PTO shaft is a about a 2" long x 1" wide cover held in by 1 screw. I removed the cover and found 2 slotted bolts with a nut on each one? What does this adjust and could this be something I need to adjust?
Need to get this fixed so I can start cutting some hay, when it stops raining.
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.
Jay

Those are the band adjustments, which rhtx55 has posted the procedure for below. Also make sure your seasonal disconnect, under the rear end ,is not disconnected. It's a small lever with 2 bolt holes that shifts the pto drive on or off. The bolt may have fallen out.Mark

Also can remove the front oil level plug in the center housing and see if the PTO drive gear is turning. Probably need help to turn engine by hand or hit the switch. If you can't see gear stick a plastic straw end in just far enough to feel gear teeth hit. If you don't find the problem elsewhere this will point to a possible pressure plate or PTO drive spline failure.
If the PTO makes no noise at all listening at rear it sounds like a input drive failure along the way from engine to PTO. Someone already mentioned checking the seasonal disconnect. If late enough 300 it ay not have one, it was optional after a serial number break. If it has one and still don't see the problem other places, may need to remove seasonal disconnect cover and check the arm condition inside and the locking jaws.

Is it a transmission driven pto? If it is a transmission driven pto, the pin has come out of the stub shaft inside the transmission.

I tried adjusting the two screws on the right side above the PTO shaft, nothing helped.
How would I go about installing the pin into the stub shaft?
can this be done by removing the cover on the back of the PTO shaft?
