544 shut off cable

Brought home the Farmall 544 yesterday, everything is fine except the shut off cable-- ordered new one 403868R2 ended up same as the one thats on it--not right. this tractor is below 14000. The new style cable from Case
will not secure to the dash it just lays in the hole and when you pull it whole cable pull

I need the correct cable because the injection pump has three positions in+run, halfway=start, out=stop
 
according the parts book there is no serial brake the farmall and international are both the same. does your dash have a hole or a up and down slot.
 
Just a threaded hole, The original was a T handle that you could pull out half way to get the tractor to start easy when it's cold. The one IH gave me is just like the one that is on it now just a choke cable with no way to secure it. I looked today and the one on a 706 diesel looks close-- dealer ordered it for me if its not right I can return it.
 
the one in parts book is t handle . the 756 is a t handle also the reason I asked what hole in dash was some of them used a up and down lever I only spent 40 yr working them red tractors. quite fimilery with them.
