Farmall H one tire/rim heavier than the other

Evenin folks,

So I took the tires/rims off of my H today. Wanted to take them off to free up more space and to replace axle bearings/seals. Both came off without much difficulty, but but the right side was much heavier than the left. Something must be in the tire, because there is a heavy spot that gravity would pull down if it were up. I need to replace the rim, as it is rotten out pretty bad near the valve stem.

Any thoughts on what may cause this? I initially thought that it was weighted, but whatever is in there is doesnt seem to be moving.

While I'm thinking about it, what should I expect to pay for a new rim? (Northern Indiana pricing).

thanks!

If there are no external weights on the tire, and it has a corroded valve stem area, I would bet it has Calcium Chloride and
water in the tube. CaCl has much higher weight than water, and does not freeze. it is corrosive and the valve stems were
not created (well) to deal with keeping it in the tube. It should be removed at a tire shop. Some run it out on the ground
where they want nothing to grow, but that is not a reasonable thing to do to your property or the water table in your area.

Thanks for the reply. That would make sense. I'll do as you suggest and have a shop take care of it. The Rim is pretty well shot, but the tire is decent.

thanks,

As Jim said likely to be CACL but unless it is a show tractor very good chance the rim can be repaired by some one who knows how to weld well. I have fixed a good many due to that problem. But it is also not good to have one tire filled and one empty due to causing odd traction and even roll over problems
