Hi All,
I've been having trouble with my Farmall 504 gas governor. The engine RPM's drift up and down depending on load. Going up and down hill, and when powering PTO implements. Probably about a 300 RPM range of drift. It's not an issue of the engine being fully loaded and being pulled down.
I took the governor apart and everything seemed ok. The weights didn't have much play; thrust bearing and spring looked good. The surge spring was gummed up with crud and I cleaned that out; thought that was the problem. Could the surge spring need adjustment? Not sure how to go about doing that...
